ProBarranquilla's Achievement

Throughout the year 2008, the dynamics of new projects installed and subject to expansion in Barranquilla and the Department of Atlántico was quite interesting. ProBarranquilla provided support to more than 180 companies with an interest in investing in the city of Barranquilla and in the Department of Atlántico, assisting these companies in their search for local, economic and sectorial information, a space to locate their business, the realization of agendas, and logistic support during their visit to the Department, in the recruiting of suitable personnel for the company, trade relations, amongst other activities, in order to facilitate their arrival to the city and the decision of investing in the Department.

This year we managed to conclude 61 new projects, of which 35 were projects for the installation of new companies and 26 were expansion projects, generating some 3.500 jobs both direct and indirect, totaling some 221 million dollars in investments. These new projects did arrive with capitals from the United States, France, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, amongst others. With regards to these new investments and expansions, ProBarranquilla has supported 32 projects. The sectors of the economy that did contribute most to this economic dynamics were the metallurgical sector, chemical, logistics and transportation, BPO’s and TIC’s, amongst others.
